Proposed increases to rates of SSP/SMP effective April 2012

The Department for Work & Pensions has proposed increases to the rate of the statutory payments, detailed below, for the tax year 2012/2013.  Although not confirmed as being accepted by the government at the moment, it is more than likely that these payments will authorised.

• With effect from Sunday 8th April 2012, Statutory Maternity, Paternity and Adoption pay will increase from £128.73 to £135.45
• With effect from 6th April 2012, Statutory Sick Pay will rise from £81.60 to £85.85
• With effect from 6th April 2012, the lower earnings limit for qualifying for the above payments will increase from £102.00 to £107.00
